What are the hours/bell times for the new school?
The hours for the new school are determined in conjunction with Halton Transportation Services, taking into account the need for sharing of routes between nearby HDSB and HCDSB schools. School bell times were approved at the June 4th Board of Trustees meeting:9:25 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Supervision in the morning is not until 9:10 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m.
When/How do I find out my child's class/teacher for September 2020?
Typically this information is not released until after 5:00 p.m. on the Friday heading into the September long weekend, just before school starts. We are unsure of the process this year. We will update this as we have more information.
Will my child be bussed to the new school?
In accordance with the school board’s Transportation Policy, students may access transportation services if they meet the following minimum distance requirements: Grades JK-8 primary residence is greater than 1.6 km from the school. Students meeting the criteria will automatically be registered for ridership. Please visit the Halton Student Transportation Services website for further details and obtaining route specific information.
What grades and programs will the new school offer for 2020-2021?
Dr. David R. Williams PS is a dual track English and French Immersion school. It will open in September 2020 as a JK‐7 ENG and Grades 2-6 FI school.
Can anyone attend the new school?
Students attending Dr. David R. Williams Public School must live within the designated boundary that was established as a result of the Boundary Review conducted in 2019. To find out if your address is within the boundary, use the 'Find My Local School' feature on the board's website.
If my child is currently enroled at one of the designated holding schools (i.e., Falgarwood PS, River Oaks PS, Palermo PS, Oodenawi PS), how do we register for next year at Dr. David R. Williams Public School?
Students currently living within the boundary for Dr. David R. Williams Public School and attending at any of the holding schools DO NOT need to register. They will automatically be transferred to Dr. David R. Williams Public School for September 2020.
Will the new school have a Child Care Centre and a Before/After School Program?
Dr. David R. Williams will have a Child Care Centre for preschool, toddler and infant care. There will also be a Before /After School Program available for families. The contract has been awarded for this facility to the YMCA of Oakville. Please contact them directly for any information pertaining to their facility or programs. School staff are unable to answer any questions pertaining to the YMCA programs or process for registration.
If a child will be attending the French Immersion program at Dr. David R. Williams Public School, can a younger sibling attend JK, SK, or Grade 1?
Kindergarten and Grade 1 applications for French Immersion Centres are not automatic and will be subject to the standard application process for Optional Attendance.
